This is me... Jazz
Zara (Zaruhi) Markosyan is a classical pianist by training and a jazz vocalist by profession, and a proud graduate of the prestigious Gnessin Academy. Her first teacher and greatest inspiration was her grandmother, herself a classical pianist.
Today, Zara carries forward that tradition as a lecturer, teacher, and composer. She is the creator of a unique jazz vocal program at the Tchaikovsky Special School, where she educates and inspires many young students in the vocal department.
Zara is also the founder of two musical groups, The Lightning Band and D’Flex Band. With The Lightning Band, she released her first album, Jazz With Me. With both ensembles, she has performed across many countries, bringing her artistry to international audiences.
Her versatility has also led her to television, where she has served as head of the musical division in several shows, curating and performing outstanding live numbers with her bands.
From her early years, Zara’s talent was evident—earning Grand Prix, first, and second prizes in numerous competitions and festivals. Alongside her musical path, she also pursued higher education in the field of law, though she admits she never intends to practice it professionally.
For Zara, the stage is her true home, and she deeply resonates with Shakespeare’s reflections on the power and beauty of performance.
She dedicates this performance with great love and gratitude to the memory of her father.
